The Exeter Bach Society is an SATB choir based in central Exeter, Devon, specialising in the choral works of Johann Sebastian Bach. We give two or three full-length concerts per year, usually with orchestral support, with additional recitals of Bach’s Cantatas at Exeter Cathedral and local churches. Recently performed pieces have included Cantata 139 at Exeter Cathedral, Purcell’s Ode to St Cecilia, and Bach’s St John Passion, which was well-received at the Mint Methodist Church earlier this year.
Our current musical director, David Davies, joined the society in September 2012. As a graduate of Eton, Oxford and Yale, and as current Assistant Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral, David brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise, both from the UK and further afield. David is also an accomplished organist, and gives frequent recitals both in Exeter and elsewhere.
If you are interested in joining the choir please go to the ‘Join Us’ page and we shall be pleased to hear from you.
